After writing your fifty word stories it’s time to connect your work to readers.
One way of doing this is by submitting your story to a writing contest.
Besides exposing your work to readers, if you win or your work is shortlisted you get to win some cool prizes in cash or kind.
There are numerous Micro Fiction contests but this list is for contests looking for exactly fifty words entries.
You no longer have to look for places to submit your entries.
Some of the 50-word story competitions are hosted monthly.
1. Dribble Flash Fiction
The contest is hosted on Fan Story, a website and community for writers to give and receive feedback on their writing. To enter the contest you will have to create an account for free on Fan Story.
With this account created you can participate in other writing contests.
Genre: open to stories on any topic
Entry Fee: Free
Prize: $100
Although the winner takes the 100 dollars cash prize, all writers get feedback on their work.
Deadline: June 3rd
Number of entries: one entry per person no more.

2. Story of the month
Fifty-word stories, a website and online magazine dedicated to publishing fifty-word stories organizes the contest.
It is a monthly contest
This is not like the other fifty-word contests.
Here’s how it works.
You submit your fifty-word story to the magazines, if your work is accepted and published in the magazine you get the chance to be selected as the story of the month.
The selected story gets to win $10.
Genre: open to stories of any topic
Entry Fee: it’s free
Prize :$10 if selected as the story of the month.
Deadline:
1 to 15 every month
Number of entries: one per writer.

3. 50 Word Story Competition
This is organised by pressure cooker literary.
Pressure cooker literary is a website looking for ideas that are non-traditional and weird.
Writeups that push boundaries.
You are provided with a prompt, usually a picture prompt.
Write your 50-word story and submit it to enter the contest
Prize: winner gets featured on the website and a bookish giveaway ( a book and other things)
Deadline: Varies

4. 50 Word Fiction Contest
The Scottish Book Trust is a website that helps writers with the information they need to become better. It caters to both adult writers and young writers.
Every month you are provided with a prompt to get you started writing your fifty-word story.
The contest is divided into four categories:adult writers, all-age Gaelic writers, young writers 5–11, and young writers 12–18.
Entry Fee: Free
Prize
- Adult writers: a mug from The Literary Gift Company
- All age Gaelic writers: books from the Gaelic Book Council
- Young Writers 5-11: a badge and pencil socks from The Literary Gift Company
- Young Writers 12-18: a notebook and pen from The Literary Gift Company
The entries are judged within two weeks after the closing date
Number of entries: limited to one per writer.
Deadline: The contest is held every month and the deadline for each month varies

5. Press 53
Earlier on in the introduction to this blog post, I said exactly fifty words but this one is different.
Press53 is looking for stories with exactly 53 words, no more or less.
Press 53 is a publisher with a magazine called the prime number magazine. It is located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
On the first day of every month, a prompt for the month along with the winning entry for the previous month’s contest is posted on the website.
If you subscribe to their email updates ( free) you will receive an email with the previous month’s winning story and prompt for the current month.
Entry fee: Free
Number of entries:the number of entries is limited to one per writer.
Prize: Publication and A book from Press53
Deadline: 15th day of each month.
