Thank you and a Happy New year

As the end of the year draws so close. I want to thank you for being there all through 2023. For the feedback and the replies. This helped with the assurance that someone out there is reading my emails on writing.

I have all your replies in my favorite folder.

Mistakes were made

It’s a phrase that denies responsibility. Instead I made mistakes as regards writing. Well I wrote some stories. If you look at it you will see it is a form of progress because I have mistakes to learn from. You only get that if you are trying.

In 2024 I will be smart about my writing goals and system.

The biggest lesson I learnt is that it doesn’t really matter what the goal of writing or reading might be. If I don’t carve out a time for it. It will never get done. This is tricky for most writers who write partime. Writing isn’t their full time job.

Well I figured a minimum of 30 minutes to start. As the year grows I will gradually grow with the time.

You can start with the minimum time for you . It could be ten minutes.

For me it doesn’t have to be everyday. It could be three times a week. The whole idea is to dedicate time for the dreams and projects to come to life.

The truth is we have to start somewhere however small it may be.

I will start tracking.

I am latching on the quote.

What am I tracking. My tracking is based on the rule. When the time(allocated) comes I will sit down and do nothing other than write. Either I write or do nothing. I can’t sing ,press my phone, talk to someone. I can only sit and stare at the blank page or the digital white space. This is more scary than writing rubbish for me.

Mark the streaks. We could use a calendar or create a tracker on your journal and mark it . There are habit tracking apps though.

Use the means that is easier to track.

I have to be more intentional about these things.

Well for me 2024 will be a year of experimenting.

Happy New Year.

Once again Thank you. It’s been a jolly ride .

Until next time, keep writing.
